Return Policy
Returns and Cancellations
At J Lam & Sons, we specialise in antiques, works of art, and collectible objects, many of which are unique and irreplaceable. Customers are encouraged to review all descriptions, measurements, photographs, provenance information, and condition reports carefully before making a purchase.
All sales are considered final unless otherwise expressly stated in writing.
Material Misdescription
If a purchased item is materially inconsistent with its description on our website or invoice, the Customer must notify J Lam & Sons in writing within fourteen (14) days of receiving the item.
A return request will only be considered where the item is shown to be materially different from its description. Minor differences in colour, appearance, age-related wear, restoration, patina, craquelure, dimensions, weight, or condition that would reasonably be expected in antiques, artworks, and vintage objects shall not constitute a material misdescription.
J Lam & Sons reserves the sole right to determine whether an item has been materially misdescribed.
Condition and Authenticity
All Goods are sold in their existing condition at the time of sale. Photographs, descriptions, and condition reports are provided for guidance only and do not constitute warranties.
Reasonable differences of opinion between experts, scholars, appraisers, conservators, or specialists regarding age, attribution, origin, authorship, period, date, culture, or authenticity shall not constitute grounds for cancellation, return, or refund.
Return Procedure
No Goods may be returned without the Seller's prior written consent.
Approved returns must be:
Returned in the same condition as delivered;
Unaltered, unrestored, cleaned, repaired, or modified in any way;
Accompanied by all original documentation, certificates, and packaging where applicable;
Shipped fully insured and at the Customer's risk until received by J Lam & Sons.
The Seller may refuse any return that does not comply with these requirements.
Shipping and Related Costs
Unless otherwise agreed by the Seller in writing, all shipping costs, insurance costs, customs duties, taxes, bank charges, and other expenses associated with a return shall be borne by the Customer.
Original shipping, insurance, customs charges, import duties, taxes, and related costs are non-refundable.
Damage After Delivery
No return or refund shall be accepted for damage occurring after delivery, including damage resulting from improper handling, storage, display, transportation, environmental conditions, accidents, negligence, or third-party actions.
International Purchases
Customers are solely responsible for ensuring compliance with all import, export, customs, cultural property, endangered species, heritage, and other regulatory requirements applicable in their jurisdiction.
J Lam & Sons shall not be responsible for delays, seizures, import restrictions, taxes, duties, permits, licences, or actions taken by customs or governmental authorities.
Seller's Discretion
Any return, exchange, credit, refund, or other accommodation not required by law shall be granted solely at the Seller's discretion and shall not create any obligation or precedent for future transactions.
